Our Bureau collects and uses your personal information to help solve your problems, improve our services and tackle wider issues in society that affect citizens in Scotland.

We only ask for the information we need. We explain why we need it, let you decide what you're comfortable telling us, and treat your information as confidential.

When we record and use your personal information, we:

  • Only access it when we have a good reason

  • Don't sell it to anyone

We handle and store your personal information in line with the law.

What do you do with my information?

Each local Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent charity and along with Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS), is a member of the Scottish Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux (SACAB). Out charities work closely to provide you with advice and support, improve our services, and make positive changes for people in Scotland through our research, policy and advocacy work.

Your information is used to provide you with advice and support. A record of your case will be kept on our secure electronic case management system. We use anonymised statistical data to show the value and impact of our services, and to inform our research and advocacy work. We may also share data with external auditors to make sure we are giving high quality advice. We may use it to refer you to specialist services outside the Bureau, we will only do this with your consent.

If you do not want us to record and use your information, we will help you as best we can, but the advice will be limited and general rather than specific to your circumstances.

If you have any further questions, please contact the Bureau for further information.
